Homeschool Co-Op Registration and Focus

 

Southeastern Region: Vinton, Jackson, Hocking, Ross, Gallia, andAthens Counties Registration is NOW OPEN for the 2026–2027 Heritage Explorers Homeschool Co-Op! 

Looking for a homeschool community where your children can learn, create, explore, and build lasting friendships while you connect with other homeschooling parents?Heritage Explorers Homeschool Co-Op is a hands-on, family-centered community where history comes alive through engaging projects, STEM challenges, creative arts, outdoor adventures, and meaningful friendships.❤️ Our growing co-op proudly includes homeschooling families from five counties, creating a welcoming community where families come together to learn, encourage one another, and make lifelong memories.

 Registration Information

 Registration Deadline: August 30

Membership is limited to 30 families

 Annual family membership fee and completed registration are required to reserve your family's spot.

 When & Where We Meet

 September through May

Second & Fourth Thursdays each month

Herbert Wescoat Memorial Library (Lower Conference Room)

During warm weather, we head over to Wyman Park for outdoor learning, messy projects, nature exploration, games, snacks, and social time.

 Special Schedule

November
• Meet the first three Thursdays
• End the month with our American Revolution Potluck, featuring recipes inspired by the Revolutionary War era.December
• Meet the first three Thursdays
• Celebrate with a Colonial Christmas Party complete with period-themed activities and fun.January & February
• One Virtual Zoom Co-Op gathering on the second Thursday
• Possible indoor educational field trip (weather and cold season permitting)Parents will receive any printable activities or supply lists through our private Facebook group before each virtual meeting.

 What Happens During a Typical Co-Op?

Each gathering includes approximately two hours of learning and fellowship

. Fun themed learning lesson

Craft, STEM, or STEAM activity

Interactive educational game or group challenge

Snack time

Social time for children and parentsDuring warmer months, we typically relocate to Wyman Park for the second hour of co-op, where families enjoy snacks, outdoor activities, and fellowship while children play together.

This Year's Time Period: The American Revolution

We don't just read history—we experience it!Throughout the year, students will enjoy:

 Hands-on American history

Revolutionary-era inventions, engineering, and technology

 STEM & STEAM projects connected to history

 Reader's Theatre performances

 History movie-making projects

 A Heritage Fair (similar to a science fair) where students showcase history projects, inventions, demonstrations, and creative displays

Wildcrafting, herbalism, and foraging as we learn about the plants, foods, medicines, and survival skills used during the Revolutionary periodHistory truly comes alive through games, crafts, experiments, storytelling, outdoor adventures, and hands-on learning.

Families who volunteer at any Heritage Explorers homeschool event throughout the year receive free admission for their family to those events.Please note: Classes with special make-and-take materials may require a small materials fee.
